Workplace benefits and therapy
Most people looking for a therapist Google first. Directories like Sun Life’s exist, but they are not how clients actually choose. This page is for anyone whose workplace extended health might reimburse psychoanalytic psychotherapy — and who is trying to figure out if this practice is a fit.
OHIP does not cover this work
Private psychoanalytic psychotherapy in Ontario is not an OHIP service. Coverage, when it exists, comes from workplace extended health (Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield, Desjardins, and others) or from paying privately.
Sun Life and other plans
Dr. Farnoush Mozafari is listed in the Sun Life provider directory. That matters for people whose employer uses Sun Life. It does not mean every Sun Life booklet reimburses every session, or that every other insurer will.
She practices as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and a Registered Social Service Worker (RSSW). Insurers often name psychologists, registered social workers, or registered psychotherapists in the fine print. Your booklet decides whether an RSSW is an eligible provider. Ask your plan administrator before you assume reimbursement.
We do not bill insurers directly. You pay for sessions and receive a receipt to submit. That is the usual arrangement in private practice in Ontario.
How people typically use benefits
- Confirm the provider types your plan lists, the annual maximum, and whether you need a physician referral.
- Book and attend. Pay for the session.
- Submit the receipt to your insurer (Sun Life Lumino / your carrier’s claims portal).
If you are comparing “therapist covered by work benefits” results, that is the real process — not a directory listing alone.
The clinical work
This is psychoanalytic psychotherapy, with a particular focus on trauma, in Rosedale (in person) and virtually across Ontario. Benefits are a way many people can afford to start. They are not a clinical shortcut. If you want to know whether the work itself is right, that conversation belongs in a consultation — not in an insurance form.
